Man shot in back in robbery attempt in Auburn

AUBURN -- A man who is believed to be about 30 years old was shot in the back Monday night in a  robbery attempt in an apartment parking lot, police said.

The shooting occurred at the Cedar Point Apartments at 2922 M Street SE, police said.

Officers arrived and and found the wounded victim, who was conscious. Officers were told the victim was confronted by a man who asked him for his "stuff." When the victim said he didn't have anything, the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim, police said.

The shooter was at large, police said.
