Seattle weather: Calming patterns bring in sunshine

Friday had a mix of weather with sunbreaks, showers, and clouds. Saturday will be a bit calmer. A few showers will pop up here and there, but it won’t be widespread rain, and many will stay dry. But, there is a chance of showers, and a possibility of a wintry mix in the mountains.

Most of the isolated showers that are forecast for today will be in the mountains, and the Puget Sound convergence zone. But it will mainly be dry, and Sunday will be nice. Then nice weather is ahead for next week. Each day has sunshine, and no rain in the forecast.

Seattle weather: Rainy day ahead for Tuesday

Lots of rain on Monday. There was a risk of thunderstorms, and a few popped up around Walla Walla in eastern Washington, but they stayed clear of the Puget Sound region.

The rain will continue Tuesday, and there is another risk of thunderstorms, and we will have some breezy conditions with winds out of the sound 10-15 mph, with gusts to 25 mph.

For the mountains - rain and snow in the morning, then snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Snow level near 4000 feet. Snow accumulation of 1 to 5 inches. Afternoon pass temperatures in the lower 40s. Gusts to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday will be a mainly dry day, and the temperatures warm up on Thursday but showers return in time for the weekend.

Seattle weather: Beautiful day in store for Friday

Thursday turned out to be a nice day. The temperature got to 56 degrees, which is 1 degree below the average. Lots of sunshine Thursday and even more of it Friday. Friday's temperatures will be in the low to mid 60s. It will be a sunny day, until late in the day when some high clouds make their way in.

Lots of people will be out and about on Friday. They will visit beaches and lakes, the Tulip Festival and the Cherry Blossoms over at the University of Washington. Be patient and grant grace to those on the roads. Another thing, lots of people will be on the hiking trails. These temperatures are for the pass levels. Hiking trails will be busy, so make sure you have sunscreen and extra water.

Beautiful day in store for Friday. Saturday will be warm too, but the clouds will roll in. Sunday some showers will make their way in by midday. And then early next week, we will see temps back in the mid 50s with showers and sunbreaks.

Seattle weather: Spring in full swing

Tuesday was cool. We only got to 51 degrees, and more of the same for Wednesday with showers off and on throughout the day. Most of the showers will remain in the convergence zone. But you will most likely have a wet morning commute.

Temperatures Wednesday will be in the low to mid 50s. In the mountains we will have temps in the mid 30s with the snow level at 3500 feet.

Spring is in full swing! Our average temperature is 57 degrees at the first of the month, and 63 degrees by the time we get to the end of the month. By the way, on average we do get three days of 70+ each year in April!

The Tulip Festival and Cherry Blossoms are in bloom in Skagit County and at the University of Washington respectively. And temperatures will warm up as we head to the weekend for the best bloom viewing.

Seattle weather: Wet weekend ahead for western WA

We had some showers off and on for Thursday, and it was a bit breezy. Just a regular spring Seattle, first day of baseball kind of day! We did get to 60 degrees, which is four degrees above the average. We will not get that warm tomorrow. Temperatures throughout the region will only be in the lower 50s.

We did have thunderstorms in the forecast for Thursday evening. We did see a few of those pop up in Skamania County. They were traveling over the Columbia River and moved up toward Walla Walla and then on to Pullman. But no activity was spotted in western Washington.

Some showers for the M's fans walking into T-Mobile Park last night. The best chance to see the roof open during the home stand will be on Sunday. Sunny on that day and a high of 61! For the games Friday and Saturday, we will see some showers.

As you can see, we have showers off and on for Friday. It might be a little tricky in the mountains with snow and rain mix and the snow level at 4,000 feet.

Tuesday, if you can believe it, is already April! Wow. And the next month starts with April showers!

Seattle weather: Cooler, calmer Mariners Opening Day forecast

Thursday will be calmer. Wednesday was a very active day. Hail, thunderstorms, rain, and a few power outages. Temperatures were warm but not as warm as was forecast, and because of those cooler temperatures we didn't get as big of hail as was forecast. The biggest hail size that was reported as nickel size out on the Olympic Peninsula.

Thursday will start with cloudy skies and a few showers. It will be cooler tomorrow, as we head back to average temperatures. There is a chance of a stray thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon.

Thursday is opening day for the Mariners … Woo Hoo! Baseball season is here! The roof will most likely be closed for the game with some showers. It will be 55 degrees as you go to the game tomorrow. Good Day Seattle and Fox 13 news at 4 & 5 pm will be live from the ballpark for all the festivities

Our 7-day forecast features showers every day. Thursday there could be a stray thunderstorm, but it will be mainly just showers off and on, and it will still be breezy. Breezy on Friday and the showers continue. Fewer showers on Saturday, and Sunday starts off nice, but there will be evening showers. Temperatures remain in the mid to upper 50s.

Seattle weather: Rainy, breezy and lots of mountain snow Friday

A cool day Thursday. The high temp was only 49 degrees. The rain and mountain snow increased later in the day, and wind also increased and will continue through the early morning on Friday.

Friday will be rainy and windy, with lots of snow in the mountains. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the upper 40s and low 50s. There is a winter weather advisory in the central and south Cascades. The snow level is at 3500 feet, and snow will be heavy at times. 2-7 inches at the pass level during the day. More snow in the evening hours. There is also a winter storm warning in the north Cascades. Take a look at the amount of snow expected in the mountains between now and Sunday evening.

As we look ahead, Saturday will see rain in the morning, and then cloudy the rest of the day. Sunday will be rainy and windy. But early next week temperatures will be in mid to upper 60s. Tuesday and most of Wednesday will be beautiful. However, Thursday for the opening day of baseball at T-Mobile Park we will see rain at times, and temps in the 50s.

Seattle weather: Rainy first day of spring

Wednesday was dry, and we got to 55 degrees, which is the average high for the day. This was the last day of winter! The rain started moving in late in the day. Most people will get some showers overnight. Lows are in the upper 30s to right around 40 degrees.

After some off and on showers, we will see clouds early in the morning, light showers by midday and then rain by the afternoon. The wind will be a factor too.

Highs tomorrow will be near 50. South wind 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph. Even higher gusts are expected tomorrow night into Friday. Here is a look at the futurecast which I have paused early tomorrow evening. Lots of rain, and lots of snow in the mountains.

There is a winter weather advisory in effect until 11 p.m. Thursday. There will be snow throughout the day, with a rain/snow mix in the afternoon. The snow level is near 2500 feet. Snow may be heavy at times in the morning. Snow accumulation of 4 to 7 inches. Afternoon pass temperatures in the mid 30s. Light wind in the passes. Gusts to 25 mph. Between now and Saturday night there will be a lot of snow in the mountains.

Spring starts tomorrow at 2:01 a.m., but it will still feel like winter. Actually, it looks like we will have a nice day on Tuesday, 66 degrees and sunny!

Seattle weather: Calmer Friday, but stormy weekend ahead

Thursday was a very active day. Lots of rain, hail, wintry mix, thunderstorms, wind, mountain snow, and even some sunbreaks. Whew! Tomorrow will be a calmer day. But it goes back to wild for the weekend with lots of rain, mountain snow, and wind for late Friday and Saturday.

Friday will see partly sunny skies, but there is a chance of rain and snow early in the morning with the snow level above 500 feet. Highs tomorrow will be around 50 degrees.

It should be dry for your commute tomorrow, with some sunbreaks by noon. Clouds roll back in and showers arrive around sunset.

Partly sunny. A chance of rain and snow in the morning, then a slight chance of rain and snow in the late morning and early afternoon. Snow level near 500 feet increasing to 1500 feet in the afternoon. On Saturday the snow level is near 2000 feet, and up to 2500 feet on Sunday. And there will be a lot of snow this weekend!

Seattle weather: Mountain snow and lowland thunderstorms

Wednesday was another day below the average high temperature. We got to 51 degrees at Sea-Tac. The showers increased throughout the evening, and will continue to do so overnight. Thursday will be breezy, rainy, and we will see a chance of thunderstorms.

Rain and snow early, then afternoon showers with possible thunderstorms. Snow level will be near 1500 feet. There is a Winter Weather Advisory until noon on Thursday. Pass level could get 4–6 inches of snow. Temperatures will be in the low 30s. Snow, rain and thunderstorms, and wind too. West wind will be to 10mph, with gusts to 30 mph.

Throughout the week we will continue to see below average temperatures and lots of rain and mountain snow. The average high temperature is 54. We are heading into the last weekend of winter, and it will feel like it with rain, mountain snow and breezy conditions.

Seattle weather: Dry day for Friday, rain returns Saturday

A cold overnight again tonight with temperatures near freezing, especially in the South Puget Sound. We could see some fog early in the morning, and it will be dry throughout most of the day on Friday.

We will see a few showers pop up late in the day on the North Olympic Peninsula, through the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the San Juan Islands. Otherwise we will see some sunbreaks with temperatures in the low 50s.

Temperatures in the mountains will be in the upper 30s and low 40s. No new snow, but we could get some over the weekend with conditions changing. In fact, starting on Saturday we will see showers in the forecast through the middle of next week. The rain gets stronger on Wednesday and Thursday and with the added rain we also have added wind.

Seattle weather: Nice sunny Thursday ahead

Thursday we should see some sunshine after the morning fog. Temperatures will be in the low 50s. It will end up being a pretty nice day. In the mountains, temps will be in the upper 30s at the pass level.

Today was the first 6p sunset, and we only have 3 more, because we are springing our clocks ahead this weekend. This graphic shows how much daylight we are gaining in the month of March. Wow! 100 more minutes. Spring arrives on March 20.

Friday we will see some clouds, and then Saturday we will have some sunbreaks. Sunday will start out nice, but showers return, and then they stay around through the middle of next week.

Seattle weather: Rainy Tuesday around the Puget Sound

Overnight temperatures will be in the low 40s, with some spots in the upper 30s. It will be dry overnight, and mainly cloudy. The morning commute should also be dry until we get to around 8 or 8:30 when the rain starts to arrive in the Puget Sound region. By noon it will be raining everywhere.

Not only will it be raining, there will also be breezy conditions throughout the day. Not damaging winds, but breezy enough to point it out. Temperatures tomorrow will be in the upper 40s to just over 50 degrees. We are back to normal temperatures. The bulk of the rain occurs midday, and by the time the evening rolls around it will just be few showers here and there. The snow level will be at 3,500 feet, so you can expect a wintry mix at the pass level.

Some off and on showers throughout Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. By the time Wednesday afternoon rolls around we should see dry conditions, and actually Wednesday afternoon looks pretty nice and so does Thursday. Friday clouds return with a chance of showers heading into the weekend. It is spring ahead weekend, so the sunset on Sunday will be after 7 p.m.

Seattle weather: Dry and mild weather continues Friday

Today was the warmest day of the year so far. We got to 63 degrees! That's 11 degrees above the average, but shy of the record of 70 degrees. By the way, that's the earliest 70 in the record books for a year, although it was in 1968.

Your day planner for tomorrow:

We could see some fog early and maybe a few clouds, but otherwise it will be sunny for the day with highs near 60 - not quite as warm as Thursday. Very pleasant and mild.

Freezing level is 9,000 feet and temperatures at the pass level will be right around 50. Nice day throughout the region, as you can see with temperatures in the upper 50s near the coast, and at or just above 60 elsewhere. It will be nice regionally too. With sunshine throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. 71 in Medford, and Boise will get to 56.

Make sure to enjoy the Friday sunshine and warmth. Rain returns on Sunday afternoon, and Monday will be a rainy day. By the middle of next week the sunshine will be back, but it will be cooler.

Seattle weather: Stormy Saturday to bring heavy rain, wind

On Friday the rain built as the day went on. The high temperature was 50, and the average high is 51 degrees. Overnight we will have some showers, but by 2 p.m. we will be in the middle of the atmospheric river. Heavy rain and wind on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The worst of it all will be from 2-10 p.m. on Saturday.

Heavy rain starts to appear on the coast in the late morning. By 3 p.m. it will be coming down hard everywhere in western Washington.

All the red, orange and yellow you see here is not just rain but intense hard rain. The rain with the wind will certainly create some trouble with potential flooding, and it will make driving around a challenge.

Between now and Monday we will get a lot of rain. Up to 5 inches at Snoqualmie Pass, and up to six inches in Shelton. As you can see, there will be a lot of rain falling between now and Monday morning. Not only do we have heavy rain, we have wind too.

The futurecast shows some very gusty winds tomorrow afternoon. Gusts in the 50+ mph range in Hoquiam Bellingham, Forks. And 40+ mph in a lot of other spots. A stormy day on Saturday and through the evening. It gets better each day after Saturday, but it will still be rainy and windy on Sunday and Monday.

Seattle weather: Rain Friday, wet and windy weekend ahead

Tonight we will see a few showers, especially in the North Olympic Peninsula, and in Skagit, Whatcom, Island, and San Juan counties. The temperatures overnight will be in the low 40s. For your Friday, showers will start to build throughout the day until everyone is seeing rain by the early to late afternoon. Temperatures will be right around 50 degrees.

Looking ahead to Saturday, it is going to be a pretty stormy day with LOTS of rain and wind. The rain will be heavy at times, and we could see wind gusts of over 40 mph, as you can see here with our wind futurecast set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Not only will there be wind, there will be rain. Here are the projected rainfall totals from now through Monday morning. So far this month we have had one and a quarter inches of rain, with the average for the month being three and three quarters inches. We will definitely blow by the average with the rain this weekend.

We could see some snow tomorrow in the mountains, but by the time Saturday rolls around, the temperatures will be too warm, and the passes will just be getting lots of rain. The snow level for the weekend will be near 6000 feet.

The 7-day forecast features much warmer temperatures and a stormy weekend. The average high is 51, and the entire week is above that. Saturday is the worst day with heavy rain and blustery conditions. It will still be rainy and windy on Sunday and Monday and start to calm down a bit on Tuesday.

Seattle weather: Short break from the rain before wet weekend

Today we had some breezy conditions. This graphic shows the peak wind gusts at each of these stations. It was also rainy. Our high today was 51, which is the average temperature of the day. Things should calm down a bit overnight. It will be cloudy with overnight lows in the low 40s.

Thursday will be cloudy, and on Friday things start to get a little rainy. Saturday is when the atmospheric river arrives. Lots of heavy rain and breezy conditions over the weekend, and we will see rising snow levels.

There is a lot of rain expected over the weekend. Look at Port Angeles 3.62 inches with the system making its way in over the weekend. Nearly 2 inches in Seattle. We will definitely catch up on our February rain totals. The average is 3.76 inches, and we are currently at 1.23 inches.

Here is a look at your 7-day forecast. Tomorrow is mostly cloudy, and then some afternoon rain on Friday. Saturday, Sunday and Monday expect lots of rain and breezy condtions. Rising snow levels upwards of 6,000 feet. All the rain will create potential flooding issues.

Seattle weather: South Sound snow for Thursday

Cold temperatures again overnight into Thursday morning. But, not as cold as the previous two nights. It will still be just 26 degrees overnight, but we won't break any records. As we start the day on Thursday, it will be cold, and clouds will start to make their way in around midday. Those clouds will bring snow to the south coast and south Puget Sound.

But just how much snow will we get? Almost everyone Tacoma northward won't get a thing. But we could see 2+ inches in places like Aberdeen and Centralia. By the late afternoon there will still be some snow flurries, and even on Friday morning another quick band moves through in the morning. But after that it will all turn to rain as we move into the holiday weekend.

Another issue is the wind. It is very windy tonight and tomorrow in the foothills communities. Actually you will feel the wind wherever you are. Gusts are expected near 50 mph in some spots.

It looks like things start to warm up into the holiday weekend. The overnight lows will be in the upper 30s and low 40s with the daytime highs in the mid to upper 40s. That's still below average, but it will feel a lot warmer. With the warmer temperatures we have some rain too over the weekend and through the middle part of next week.

Seattle weather: More potential snow Saturday morning

Rain has started along the coast and as it moves inland the temperatures are cooling, and it is turning into a rain/snow mix. There is a chance of small amounts of accumulation in the South Puget Sound early Saturday.

This is a weak system, but temperatures are cool enough, and there will be moisture in the air. Saturday morning is a WEATHER ALERT DAY, especially in the morning because of potentially dangerous driving conditions.

Futurecast has been paused at 2:30 p.m. This is the most precipitation we will see on Saturday as the system continues to weaken. A lot of it will be a rain/snow mix, as you can see in the graphic.

After some brief snow showers tomorrow morning, the high temps will be in the mid to upper 30s. The next couple of days will be nice but COLD. Look at Monday into Tuesday…only 19 degrees overnight! Brrr…

Rain and snow mix is expected again on Thursday and on Valentine's Day. That turns into rain as we head into the President's Day holiday weekend as temperatures warm up into the 40s.

Seattle winter weather: Cold and icy Friday morning ahead

Thursday turned out to be a pretty nice day, but it was still cold. Seattle got to 39 degrees, which is 11 degrees below the average temp. Friday morning's commute could be a little sketchy with ice, and the possibility of left over slush in places.

Temperatures early Friday will be well below freezing, into the mid 20s. But during the day it will get to the low 40s out on the coast and upper 30s elsewhere.

The chance for more lowland snow will pick up again from Friday night into Saturday morning as a low pressure system moves inland south of the area. Amounts will be lighter than Thursday morning’s event, but stay tuned to the forecast as we get closer.

This weekend will bring a slight chance for showers at times, but it looks more dry than wet. We will remain very cool through the middle of next week with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s.

Seattle weather: Most likely an icy Monday morning commute

There will most likely be an icy commute on Monday morning.

Temperatures throughout the region will be below freezing at sunrise, and leftover water on the roadways could turn to ice. There is also the possibility of some snow showers throughout the commute, which is why Monday will be another Weather Alert Day.

Monday morning

Showers will be far less widespread Monday morning.

This is a "feast or famine" scenario where some communities get nothing while others see a little coating of snow on the ground. Read below for snow amounts and impacts.

Western Whatcom or Skagit Counties - along with Western Clallam and Jefferson Counties - have a better chance for accumulating snow that may trigger at least some delays. There's still some uncertainty about how much snow may stack up in those areas. More details on that below.

There will be some snow showers throughout the day. How much snow could we get?

Take a look at these potential snow totals:

4-6" on the North Olympic Peninsula in places like Forks and Port Angeles.
2-4" in the North Sound, through Skagit, Whatcom and San Juan counties.
1-4" near the Cascade foothills communities in East Snohomish and King counties. Also, in places like Olympia and out through Westport.
Up to 1" through South Puget Sound in places like Tacoma and Shelton.

Monday daytime

After a semi-quiet morning, another round of rain/snow could develop in the South Sound by around noon Monday. This could become more extensive around Puget Sound through the rest of the day. Should this band be heavy enough, the primary precipitation could be snow. Under that, minor accumulations are possible. The evening commute could be slippery where this is happening.

Monday night

Unfortunately, ice will be an issue once again Monday evening. Any spotty snow that falls Monday evening could stick to the ground. Stick with us for further details.

Tuesday and the rest of the week

The cold temperatures will remain through the week.

Overnight lows will be in the 20s and highs in the low to mid 30s. There will be a chance of snow throughout the early part of the week with some relief mid-week into next weekend. However, it will still be cold.

Seattle weather: Wintry mix for Saturday

Yes, we could see some lowland snow early on Saturday. The best chance is for Whatcom and Skagit County. The second-best chance will be on the North Olympic Peninsula, the Kitsap Peninsula, the Coast and the Chehalis Valley. We will see limited snowflakes in the convergence zone of Snohomish County, the South Puget Sound through Centralia, and in the foothills communities of King and Snohomish counties.

TOMORROW: Off and on chance of a wintry mix. However, temperatures are warming into the low 40's for the most part. The mountains will continue to see persistent snow. You can see though the foothills communities will remain chilly, only getting to 35 degrees. We will also have some gusty winds, with the futurecast showings gusts in the 25-35 mph range early in the morning.

SUNDAY: There is a better chance of snow as the temperatures will be colder. However, we have less moisture falling from the sky.

The 7-day forecast features some cold days ahead. The rain settles down a bit overnight with off and on showers (wintry mix) on Saturday. Sunday there is some snow in the forecast, and that stretches through Monday morning. The commute on Monday could be a bit dicey. Monday afternoon things settle down…from then on we just have cold temperatures and partly cloudy skies.

Seattle weather: Rainy day Friday

HEADLINES: Widespread rain showers and mountain snow overnight and Friday. Warmer temperatures too, in the upper 40s in the Seattle area. Since January 11, every day has been below average temperature wise. On Friday we could be back to average - which is 49 degrees for Jan. 31. Rain and snow mix late Friday into Saturday morning, especially in Snohomish and North King Counties. The rest of Saturday will bring just light rain as the temperature warms.

LOOKING AHEAD: The best chance of snow on Saturday evening will be north of Everett. There is limited precipitation in the forecast for Sunday night into Monday morning, but if we do get moisture it will most likely be snow. Monday morning’s commute could be impacted. Temperatures will remain very chilly next week with highs in the mid 30s and overnight lows in the mid 20s. However, no widespread snow is expected. Seattle weather: Rain returning Thursday evening

It will be a bit cooler tomorrow with temperatures in the low to mid 40s. We will have a cloudy start, but the rain returns late in the afternoon, and will be very persistent through the evening hours. And as we look ahead to Friday and the weekend, we will start to see a wintry mix. The first sight of snow mixed with rain will most likely be Saturday…the biggest impact will be Sunday afternoon/evening into Monday morning.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THURSDAY: Clouds to start the day, with increasing rain starting on the coast and up north. And by the late afternoon, everyone will see showers, and we will start to see some snow in the mountains.

RECAP: Today Sea-Tac got to 47 degrees. The average is 49, and the record was 61 back in 2024. Sunshine and dry conditions continued today. Today is the 13th day in a row of no rain. But with rain in the forecast for tomorrow night and on Friday, we will not break the 15-day in a row streak that was set back in 1963.

7-DAY FORECAST: Rain in the evening tomorrow, and then off and on showers for Friday, with some breezy conditions. Saturday we will see a rain/snow mix, with more opportunity for the snow part on Sunday night through Monday morning. Things start to dry out on Monday afternoon, but those temperatures will stay really cold early next week.

Beautiful weekend ahead for western WA

We've got a long stretch of cool, sunny days — but rain is finally creeping back into the forecast late next week.

Today, Seattle got to 42 degrees. The record was 56 degrees, which happened back in 2005. Clouds throughout the day today. There was very little shower activity in the early evening on the Olympic Peninsula and east of Everett in the foothills communities.

Clouds overnight, but it will get sunny by mid-day. Lows will be in the lower 30s, and right at freezing. For the day Friday it will be sunny. High temperatures will be in the lower 40s.

Cool temperatures in Seattle

As you can see, the temperatures on the coast will be in the mid 40s, and further inland it will be in the lower 40s. Seattle will get to 42 degrees tomorrow. The average high for the day is 49.

Look at all that sunshine! Wow! Looks like an awesome weekend. However, temperatures will still be below average during the day and overnight. In fact, temperatures will be below freezing overnight. And look what happens on Thursday, showers return. Showers appear to be in the forecast on Thursday and into Friday next week as well.
