Mother finds heartbreaking note from son who died after battle with brain infection

PIKE COUNTY, Ga. -- A Georgia mother shared a sweet note from her son after he died last week from a rare brain infection.

Leland Shoemake, 6, died on Friday after a month-long battle with an amoebic infection in his brain.

The boy's mother, Amber, shared a note from Leland on the Prayers for Leland Facebook page.  The note reads: "Still with you. Thank you Mom & Dad. Love."

Amber wrote on Facebook:

 Leland had been in critical condition at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. It remains unclear how the boy contracted the infection, according to WSB-TV.

His parents created a GoFundMe page to raise money for hospital bills.
