12th Man vanity plate sells for $115,000
AUSTIN, TX-- A Houston lawyer went deep in his pockets and spent $115,000 for a vanity license plate that was auctioned this week.
The plate salutes the 12th man of the Texas A&M Aggies football team, showing the Aggies logo and 12THMAN spelled out.
The lawyer, Tony Buzbee, a former Marine officer, said in a written statement that he's giving the plate away to a decorated war veteran who graduated from A&M.
It is the highest price ever paid for a license plate.
The 12th Man is a revered tradition at A&M, where fans stand throughout football games.
