TUKWILA -- Tukwila police say three men broke into an elderly couple's home early this morning and beat them. The victim says they were searching for money and drugs.
“I didn`t ever expect to be standing there, face to face, with a guy that`s going rob my house you know”, says Bobbi Douvia.
Her front door is split and splintered and she is still shaking after Tukwila Police say two men armed with guns kicked it open at 3:30 this morning.
“I was on the computer because I don`t go to bed early,” says Bobbi.
The 78 year old says she got up to check things out and came face to face with a shotgun.
“He said he wanted money and drugs and I told him there`s none here. I`ve got hydrocodone because of my back pain and they left it. They must have heard that I have some really good drugs or a lot of money,” says Bobbi.
Bobbi says she screamed for her boyfriend who`d been sleeping in the bedroom.
“Tim lunged at him and they ended up over there on the kitchen floor hallway. They really did a number on his face and then they got me in the back of the head,” says Bobbi.
While the two men tore through her home, Bobbi ran outside and hid behind a car. That`s when she says she saw the third suspect, Eric James Chavez, standing beside the getaway car. “I thought: is he going to shoot me? And I went, well I can`t help it if he is because I have to try,” she say.
Bobbi made a run for it to her neighbor`s door.
“I just beat on his door and I heard him in there and I went, ‘Mike it’s me, Bobbi! I’m being robbed!.”
Tukwila Police arrested two of the suspects. But tonight, police are still looking for Chavez, who they say ran from the scene.
“He`s very dangerous. He`s got a history of assault and he doesn`t seem to be afraid to hurt people. It’s very scary for us having him out in the community,” says Sgt. Mike Murphy
