Daughter of missing NY grandmother pleads for answers in Vegas disappearance

FOX 5's Robert Moses speaks with Elisa's daughter, Kristen Goods, about the search for her mother and the frustrating hurdles the family has faced with the local police investigation.

What we know:

Goods, 63, disappeared while on vacation about two weeks ago, shortly after her family said they started receiving suspicious text messages from her phone.

She was reportedly staying with a friend, Roger John, who said she left his apartment to go to a store, possibly CVS, and never returned. John reached out to her family, who then instructed him to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Goods' family said on Aug. 12 they tried calling her iPhone, which rang and went straight to voicemail. Later that night, the family said someone answered her phone and hung up. Soon, strange text messages started getting sent from her device, they said.

In one of the texts, shared by Calloway, the sender initially asked for money via Cash App before switching to Bitcoin. The sender even offered to teach Goods' niece how to do it.

Calloway replied saying she would get "Kelly" to help. Since no one in the family was named Kelly, she said she figured her aunt would reply asking who that was. The sender reportedly replied, "She should send $50."

What they're saying:

Calloway said her family was dealing with unimaginable pain after learning of her aunt's death.

"We were notified that my aunt was found—unfortunately, not the way we wanted her to be. This is an unimaginable time. Words cannot describe the pain our family is experiencing right now. We just want to thank the public for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers. We also want to thank the media for helping bring attention to this situation. This hurts so deeply. We are still trying to learn the details surrounding her death. We ask for continued prayers and privacy as we grieve," Calloway said in a statement to FOX 5 NY's Kendall Green
