KING COUNTY, Wash. -- A man accused of killing his ex-wife two years ago in Bellevue pleaded guilty to 1st degree murder on Wednesday.
Aleksandr Polak is accused of stabbing Nataliya Vabishchevich 72 times in her condo in June of 2013.
According to Bellevue police, Polak fled to California on a Greyhound bus after an interview with detectives. He was followed to the Los Angeles area by undercover officers until criminal charges could be filed in Washington.
Police say Vabishchevich feared for her life after the couple divorced in 2007.
Prosecutors say Polak is facing 20 to 26 years in prison when he's sentenced in the King County Courthouse in Seattle on May 1.
