SEATTLE --
We start with a quick simple complaint. If the Seahawks game was on Q13 Fox tonight, and Q It Up Sports immediately followed the game, what would you expect us to talk about first? The Seahawks game. Last night around 11 o-clock, this bizarre and controversial finish took place on ESPN. Wisconsin, trying to set up for a game winning field goal at Arizona State. A question whether their quarterback actually takes a knee... confusion amongst the players. The Arizona State players intentionally delaying the game. The official, standing over the ball... and Wisconsin, unable to get the final snap off, the Sun Devils hold onto win it, 32-30.
Pandemonium in Tempe. Viewers going crazy. Twitter going crazy. But ESPN abruptly ends the telecast with no explanation of what happened. A live SportsCenter then starts with no mention of what just happened. No replay. No analysis. No nothing about the game.
ESPN had announcers at the game. What prevented them from going back to Arizona for further evaluation of a controversial ending? It's a case of ignoring your primary audience, and not delivering.
Imagine if they did the same thing after Golden Tate's controversial touchdown catch on Monday Night Football? Viewers would have a similar fit. It's a call that will be debated all day tomorrow. But the decision to ignore the audience that was on the station to begin with? Just terrible.
The Hawks didn't precede our show tonight, but that's what everyone's talking about. So now, I'll shut up, and start talking Hawks. But first, what do you think? Were you watching that game? How frustrated were you when no one on TV was talking about the controversy? You can always find me on twitter @AaronQ13FOX or email us at tips@Q13fox.com.
