Convicted child predator who was missing in Pierce County, living in van near daycare -- caught thanks to WMW viewer tips

FUGITIVE CAPTURED March 25, 2016 --
Convicted sex offender, Robbin Smith, was arrested Friday in Puyallup living in a van in a trailer park next to a daycare on 112th St.

He was wanted for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender after he molested a 10-year-old girl.

The tips led U.S. Marshals, The DOC’s Southwest Community Response Unit, the FBI’s South Sound Gang Task Force and the Pierce County Community Support Team to him this afternoon.

He was booked into the Pierce County Jail.

Smith is WMW Capture #750 and I couldn't be more grateful to all of you and the law enforcement officers who caught this child predator!

FUGITIVE WANTED BY DOC IN PIERCE COUNTY March 11, 2016 --

"Robbin Smith concerns us,” says Pierce County Det. Ed Troyer. “He was working as a caregiver at a home that he was not related to anybody in there, while he was there he molested a 10 year old girl.”

Robbin Smith was convicted of that crime in 1997. He's failed to register as a sex offender several times since and is missing again in Pierce County.

"He also has many other criminal convictions for harassment and theft and so he's somebody who we want to know where he is and we want people to know who he is, that way they don't hire him or he doesn't end up in another position where another person can become a victim,” adds Troyer.

Smith was originally granted a special sex offender sentencing alternative of doing treatment, but after a slew of violations he was kicked-out of treatment and sent to prison.

Smith is 62 years old, 5’10” and weighs 150 pounds.
