The City of Seattle and King County are in a cooperative program called RainWise to encourage yards to convert to rain gardens to catch storm runoff-- and put it back in the soil. They've helped hundreds of homeowners install of rain gardens with reimbursements up to 100% in some neighborhoods.

By encouraging Seattle residents to manage storm water runoff through the RainWise Program, King County and Seattle Public Utilities can meet their goals to reduce combined sewer overflows, or CSOs, that occur in the Lake Washington Ship Canal during heavy rains.
There are three workshops coming up to meet contractors and find out if a rain garden is right for you. The first is tomorrow from 1-4pm at the Phinney Neighborhood Assocation. There are two more coming up on October 20th and October 30th.
