Emaciated pit bull 'Boozer' recovering, in good spirits after rescue from home

One week after an emaciated 11-year-old pit bull was rescued from a home by Lake Stevens Police Support Officer Cindy Brooks, 'Boozer' was released from Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital and taken to Pasado's Safe Haven to continue his treatment and recovery.

The veterinary staff have done a wonderful job taking care of him. They say he just needed food and love and some medication. He has gained a couple of pounds but they have to take it slow. They have been feeding him every 8 hours. He is still emaciated but his spirits are good. He will remain at Pasado's while the investigation proceeds.

The Lake Stevens owner could face charges for denying Boozer access to medical treatment. Once the investigation is completed, police will forward their findings to the prosecutor's office for a charging decision. Eventually, Boozer could find a forever home with another family.
