SEATTLE -- Police say a 96-year-old woman was struck by a bullet early Monday in a drive-by shooting.
Officers were first called to a home in the 900 block of 27th Avenue around 12:45 a.m. At that time, they were not able to find any property damage or suspects.
Police were called to the same block just before 5 a.m. The victim's granddaughter reported that her grandmother had been shot in the leg.
According to Seattle police, the elderly woman was not the intended target. Officers have been called to the home "on numerous occasions" to investigate shootings and other crimes targeting other family members.
The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries.
Officers recovered shell casings in front of the home.
Gang unit detectives are investigating.
