VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Authorities have filed murder and assault charges against a man accused of killing his girlfriend's 3-year old son last week in Battle Ground.
The Columbian reports the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney's Office on Thursday filed first-degree domestic violence murder and second-degree domestic violence assault charges against Ricardo Gutierrez, 39.
Court records allege Gutierrez beat and stabbed Jose "Pepe" Castillo-Cisneros to death on May 23 after the boy cried over a movie he didn't want to watch. The child had autism, according to his family.
Gutierrez is charged with hurting Castillo-Cisneros' mother Yadira Cisneros-Sanchez while she tried to stop Gutierrez from assaulting the child. Gutierrez, who is not Castillo-Cisneros' father, is being held at the Clark County Jail on $1.5 million bail.
He told police he didn't remember attacking Castillo-Cisneros and has blacked out in the past from anger.
