SEDALIA, Missouri -- Police in Missouri are investigating claims by a woman that she was held captive and routinely locked inside a wooden box inside a home since January.
Sedalia Police told FOX 4 News in Kansas City that the woman was able to escape Thursday night and run to a nearby house where she called 911.
The woman reportedly told investigators a man she had been in a relationship with had been holding her hostage inside the home for months and each time he left the home he would force her into a wood box.
By the time police got to the home the man was gone and now authorities have launched a massive manhunt to find him.
Police said the man 47-year-old James Horn Jr. is 5’11” and 175lbs. A car he was believed to have been driving was found outside the city.
Neighbors said they never suspected anything because the two were often seen outside together. Police said that the relationship started out consensually, but eventually grew more and more controlling.
