OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Police are telling drivers to click it, or face a ticket.
Monday was the start of the annual click it or ticket campaign. A total of 150 cities will add patrols, looking to limit traffic deaths and serious injuries.
About 95 percent of the state's drivers are already wearing their seat belts and troopers hope to take that to 100 percent.
"Rural areas are one of the places we find more people not wearing their seatbelts," said Angie Ward, of the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. "Unfortunately, rural roads are one of the most dangerous places to drive in Washington."
Each year, about a hundred people in Washington die in crashes while not wearing a seat belt.
A ticket for a seat belt violation is $136.
