SEATTLE -- Police arrested five young teens after they robbed a couple at gunpoint early Wednesday morning in a Capitol Hill park, officers said.
Around 12:30 a.m., witnesses called police when they saw a group of teens assaulting a man and woman in Cal Anderson Park. A witness told police a teen pointed a gun at the victims. The group fled the park just before police and medics arrived.
The victims told police they were sitting in the park when the group of suspects approached and offered to sell them drugs. The victims said no, and the teens punched and kicked them before pulling a gun.
The teens took the man's cellphone and ran off, police said.
Medics treated one of the victims for minor injuries at the park.
Police spotted the suspects a short time later near the intersecion of Pike Street and Harvard Avenue. The teens, ranging in ages from 13 to 17, were arrested. Police found a handgun and the stolen cellphone.
Officers booked the group into the King County Youth Services Center on investigation of robbery.
