PORTLAND, Oregon -- It all began a few weeks ago inside Portland's famed Powell's Books.
As employees tell it a kid started complaining of a sour stomach and then suddenly lost his lunch all over the place.
As when this happens at any business it was left to those on shift at that moment to mop up the mess. The kiddo went home.
That's where the story could have ended.
"But kids in my area frequently surprise me with how cool they are," wrote an employee on reddit. "Almost like small human beings."
That employee then posted a photo of a hand written card sent to the bookstore a few days later.

Along with the adorable apology "Jack" included a gift card for ice cream.
But how did he ensure the letter found the right employees?
Jack knew just what to do.
On the outside of the envelope he helpfully wrote, "attention barf cleaners."
Manager Jennifer Wicka told BuzzFeed in her 16 years at the store she has rarely seen anyone puke. But she says she has certainly never received a card like Jack's.
