POULSBO, Wash. -- Deputies arrested a Kitsap County man after they say he shot at someone who broke into his home.

Kitsap County sheriff's deputies also arrested the intruder who was identified as a 22-year-old man, who had been in a relationship with the homeowner's daughter.

Authorities were called Tuesday evening to a home on Viking Way for the report of shots fired.

Deputies say a 57-year-old man confronted the intruder as he was about to leave and shots were fired, hitting a vehicle several times.

The homeowner was arrested for assault and the intruder was booked for residential burglary.

Detectives say the investigation is ongoing. No further details were released.
