LYNNWOOD -- Sheriff's deputies are looking for a pair of inept burglars after an ATM fell out of the back of a stolen van cruising over a speed bump.
Around 11 a.m. Sunday, two suspects backed up a white van to a business at the 2900 block of 164th Street Southwest, walked up to an ATM, cut the cables and loaded the machine into the van, Snohomish County sheriff's deputies said. The pair was driving out of the parking lot when they hit a speed bump too fast, deputies said, causing the ATM to fall out.
The suspects left the ATM on the ground and drove away.
At 10:20 a.m. Monday, sheriff's deputies received calls about an unoccupied white van left idling near the intersection of 164th Street and Maple Road. Officers discovered the vehicle was stolen from Kent, and was likely used in the previous night's theft. The van was impounded.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone who has information about the thefts is encouraged to call the sheriff's office tip line at 425-388-3845.
