ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A strong earthquake struck north of Anchorage Thursday morning.
Initial estimates put the quake at 6.2.
There were no initial reports of damage.
The quake was centered roughly 80 miles northwest of Anchorage and the Alaska Earthquake Center reported that it was a ‘deep’ quake.
The National Weather Service tweeted that a tsunami was not expected as a result.
Some buildings in downtown Anchorage were evacuated as a precaution.
