Crash blamed on wrong way driver
Parkland – Two people are dead after a car going the wrong way collided with at least 4 other vehicles on SR 512 near Parkland.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the car turned from SR 7 onto the SR 512 offramp around 4 pm. A vehicle on the offramp tried to wave down the vehicle to let it know if was going the wrong way. But the wrong way driver hit that car, went around it and drove onto SR 512. The driver hit three vehicles on the highway, losing control and spinning out after the last collision. Both vehicles burst into flames.
Troopers say the offending driver was ejected and died at the scene. A passenger in the other vehicle was also killed. They have not released the names of the victims, or details on anyone else who was injured in the crash.
Westbound SR 512 was shut down for hours on Sunday as officers investigated the crash. It re-opened around 8:30 pm.
