LIVE World Cup: USA loses 4-1 to Belgium as World Cup run ends

The United States is seeking to reach the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for just the second time ever and will attempt to accomplish that feat Monday in Seattle against Belgium.

An already massive match has ramped up even more with all the controversy surrounding Folarin Balogun's "red card" against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and FIFA's decision to suspend the one-game ban for the match against Belgium.

The U.S. beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in Santa Clara last week in the Round of 32 for their first knockout stage victory since the 2002 World Cup when they beat Mexico. However, that was before the tournament expanded.

A win against Belgium will put the U.S. into the quarterfinals for just the second time, joining that 2002 squad that lost 1-0 to Germany in South Korea.

If the U.S. wins, they'll advance to face Spain on Friday at noon in Los Angeles. Spain beat Portugal 1-0 on a 91st minute goal from Mikel Merino in Dallas.

Keep reading for everything to know about the matches, including live updates, scores and key highlights from the United States vs. Belgium in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
