One person was killed in a deadly motor scooter and vehicle crash near Alki Friday afternoon.

SPD says the collision happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 4500 block of Beach Drive SW, near Me-Kwa-Mooks Park.

According to Seattle Fire Department, the driver of a sedan was attempting to make a U-tern when the driver of the scooter crashed into the vehicle. Good Samaritans performed CPR on the 61-year-old victim before medics arrived and took over. The victim died at the scene, according to Seattle Fire. The identity of the victim is unknown.

SFD says Beach Drive is closed in both directions and drivers are advised to take alternate routes.

Police say the causing vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. Drugs or impairment were not immediately detected, SPD says.
