ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Officials say three people are missing at a construction job site after they were caught in one of several landslides triggered by heavy rain in the southeast Alaska town of Sitka.
Sitka officials earlier said four people were missing before revising the figure to three.
A city building official is among those unaccounted for. City officials say he is 62-year-old William Stortz, 62. The Daily Sitka Sentinel first reported the identity.
Sitka fire spokeswoman Sara Peterson says the other people missing are brothers, 26-year-old Elmer Diaz and 25-year-old Ulises Diaz.
Peterson says a search has not yet started because of the instability of the site.
