KENT -- One person has been detained during the investigation into what caused a house fire early Monday morning at an unoccupied home in the 24000 block of 138th Court SE.
Firefighters were dispatched to the home around 1:30 a.m. after neighborhood security noticed smoke coming from the two-story house, the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority said. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and fire coming from the first floor.
The fire was extinguished after 20 minutes. No one was injured in the blaze.
Authorities said no one lives in the house, but transients have been spotted in the home previously. A man was arrested for a possible home burglary a short time after the fire broke out less than a block from the blaze, police said. Police are questioning him about the fire.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
