ONTARIO, Canada — Rock musician Avril Lavigne is speaking out about a severe case of Lyme disease that she says had her bedridden for nearly five months.
Back in December, Lavigne hinted she was dealing with health issues in an exchange with a fan on Twitter.
Now, she’s revealed to People that she in fact was battling Lyme disease. She was diagnosed after months of feeling tired and light-headed, and believes she was bit by a tick last spring.
She told People she has been trying to recuperate at her home in Ontario. She said she had a hard time breathing, talking and even moving.
“I thought I was dying,” she told People.
Lavigne now says she feels “80 percent better,” and plans to start releasing new music.
