Driver hits parked patrol car in Tukwila
Q13 News This Morning
TUKWILA, Wash. -- A Tukwila police officer is recovering after a woman accused of drinking and driving plowed into his parked car. This happened at a road block along Tukwila International Blvd.
The officer had responded to a crash involving a tanker fuel truck that hit a power pole.
No one was injured in that crash, but police shut down the road to investigate, and traffic cones blocked off the patrol car.
According to state troopers, a car driven by a 26-year old woman, went through the blockade and crashed into the officer’s car.
“The officer involved was sitting in his patrol car doing the report on that vehicle versus light pole when this other vehicle came up and struck him,” said Trooper Pete Strock. “The officer did say he is sore in one of his hips, on the side that got hit.”
The driver of the car that hit the officer was not hurt but was arrested for DUI.
The light pole was replaced and the road is back open to traffic.
