FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Police are investigating a crash that killed two pedestrians in Federal Way Friday afternoon.
According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson, just before noon, officers responded to reports of a car that went off I-5 and landed on Star Lake Road.
According to investigators with the Federal Way Police Department, the car was traveling south on Military Rd. and crossed the opposite lane, hitting two people on the east side of the street.
After striking the two victims, the car continued on its path until it crashed into a barrier.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center for injuries sustained during the crash. Investigators say it is unknown if the driver was impaired.
The Federal Way Police Department will be handling the investigation, WSP Trooper Johnson said.
