Driver: 'Just going to drive to the sandbar for a picnic'
AUBURN, Wash. -- The driver of an SUV said he, his friend and dog were "just going to drive to the sandbar for a picnic" Monday in the middle of the Green River, the King County Sheriff's Office said.
His Jeep didn't make it through the water, which looked to be about 3 feet deep. The incident happened near SE Green Valley Road and SE Auburn-Black Diamond Road.
The towing bill was going to be between $800 and $1,000.
The sheriff's office said the state Department of Fish and Wildlife might fine the driver, too.
Ouch. That's not so priceless.
