'I need to address the elephant-in-the-room,' Bristol Palin talks about her canceled wedding

ANCHORAGE, Ak. -- One week after former Alaska governor Sarah Palin announced her daughter's wedding was called off, Bristol Palin has taken to social media to talk about the cancellation.

Bristol Palin, 24, canceled her engagement earlier this month with 26-year-old Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer. The wedding, which was scheduled for May 23, was called off less than a week before the event.

“They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held,” Sarah Palin said in a statement posted to Facebook earlier this month.

The Palins still held a BBQ to celebrate life in general, but it was largely known that Palin and Meyer were no longer together.

On Tuesday, Bristol tool to Facebook and her blog to talk about the canceled wedding. The blog post, titled "The wedding that didn't happen," was short, reading:


It is still unclear why the couple called off the wedding.
