KITSAP COUNTY - A 36-year-old man wanted out of Kitsap County for charges of child rape was located and arrested in California on Wednesday.
On March 2, Kitsap County deputies began investigating allegations that 36-year-old Roger Alan Heath had sexually assaulted a minor. During that investigation, deputies learned he planned on fleeing the state with the victim and attempted to lure her into his vehicle.
He was wanted for two counts of second-degree child rape and luring.
Heath was arrested by the Corning Police Department on July 6 without incident. Corning is a small city in California, located about 100 miles north of Sacramento. He was arrested after the Corning Police Department received notice from California Highway Patrol and the Chico Police Department that a truck heading their way had an occupant in it who had felony warrants and was being sought by the US Marshals.
Heath is being held in the Tehama County Jail, pending extradition back to Washington.
The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office told FOX 13 that he was located thanks to tips from the public.
