Police took a man into custody after a deadly stabbing and carjacking in Edmonds.

The stabbing happened after 10 p.m. on Wednesday in a parking lot of a business complex in the 21900 block of Highway 99, near the WinCo.

A 37-year-old man was stabbed during the carjacking, and police say his car was stolen after the incident. It was described as a white Kia Sorento with WA plates BTZ2137 and on Thursday morning police located it near Volunteer Park in Seattle.

The suspect, who police identified as 43-year-old Ian S. Bramel-Allen, was last seen wearing a gray beanie, gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown boots.

He was taken into custody by Seattle police hours after the car was found, and went to the hospital for a self-inflicted injury.

On Saturday, May 6 the Edmonds Police Department announced that Bramel-Allen was released from the hospital and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on probably cause for first-degree murder, and first-degree robbery.

Edmonds police said the stabbing doesn't appear to be a random incident and there is a connection between the victim and the suspect. The exact connection is unknown.

The investigation remains ongoing.
