Deputy McCartney`s memorial

TACOMA, Wash. -- A procession and Celebration of Life service was held Wednesday, Jan. 17 for a slain Washington deputy.
The procession for Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel McCartney began at approximately 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life service started at 1 p.m. at Pacific Lutheran University.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says about 1,500 law enforcement personnel and 650 patrol vehicles participated in a procession.
McCartney, a 34-year-old Navy veteran and married father to three young boys, was shot during a foot chase earlier this month as he responded to a home invasion near the small community of Frederickson, 15 miles southeast of Tacoma.
McCartney died early Jan. 8 at a Tacoma hospital. He had been a Pierce County Deputy for three years.
Two people have been charged with murder in connection with his death.
