Police investigate shooting in Seattle's SODO neighborhood

Seattle Police are investigating a shooting at 1st Ave S and S Massachusetts St. We have a crew on-scene working to learn more.

Police say two men were injured, both the suspect and victim, after a shooting Seattle’s SODO neighborhood Monday afternoon.

Just after 3 p.m., officers were called to several reports of a shooting near First Ave S and S Massachusetts St. When they arrived, they found a 48-year-old man and 29-year-old man both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police treated both men’s injuries, then Seattle Fire Department personnel took them to the hospital in critical condition.

According to an early investigation, the 48-year-old man was riding his motorcycle, when two men approached on their own motorcycles and tried to rob him. They demanded his clothes and vehicle, but the victim refused, and the men attacked him.

During the scuffle, the victim pulled a firearm, and the 29-year-old pulled his gun and both shot each other.

Police say the other suspect, a 38-year-old man, was not injured in the gunfire and was taken into custody.

Authorities recovered three guns at the scene.
