Seattle Police: Officers shoot, kill man with knife at Lower Queen Anne apartment complex

SEATTLE -- A domestic violence suspect who was armed with a knife was shot dead by Seattle Police Wednesday, police say.

The shooting was reported at 7:23 p.m. inside an apartment complex in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue W. in Lower Queen Anne.

Police say they received a series of 911 hang-up calls from the complex, and neighbors reported hearing a man and woman fighting. The woman inside told 911 operators that her boyfriend had armed himself with a knife and was trying to assault her.

Two officers entered the apartment, spotted the man holding a knife and fired. Police say the man died at the scene.

It’s not clear if the man threatened officers, but a police spokesperson did say that was part of the investigation.

Police say neither of the officers were hurt.

Investigators will be in the area for several more hours, and they are asking people to avoid the area.
