GORST, Wash. - SR 16 in Gorst has reopened as Kitsap County deputies and Washington State Patrol investigate a road rage shooting.
WSP reported the shooting around 2:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of SR 16.
It's unclear what led up to the shooting, but one suspect is in custody.
""The vehicles looked like they were pulling out in front of each other and driving at a high rate [of speed]," said Washington State Patrol Trooper Katherine Weatherwax.
WSP has not specified how many people were involved, but they did say one person was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for critical injuries.
"It’s the best case scenario for what happened," said Weatherwax. "We are just hoping that the victim makes it."
All eastbound lanes were closed for several hours. At one point, traffic was delayed on southbound SR 3 and backed up as far as Silverdale.
FOX 13 will have updates as they become available.
