St. Jude Walk/Run helps families dealing with childhood cancer

SEATTLE -- On Saturday, Sept. 19, hundreds of families who have felt the brunt of cancer's weight joined St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to walk for a cure.

Families gathered at Seattle Center to walk, run and otherwise cheer as part of a fundraiser to raise money for children's cancer. The money raised went for cancer research, as well as efforts to help families with cancer treatment, travel and housing costs.

Heather Jones, a mother and participant at the walk/run, says now that her daughter is cancer free, she walks to help the children.

"We are here because we help the children going through it now," Jones said.
