New WSDOT Secretary

SEATTLE -- Roger Millar, the acting state transportation secretary,  admitted Tuesday that the Washington State Department of Transportation faces challenges, but that it is working hard to make everyone's commute better.

Gov. Jay Inslee named Millar acting transportation secretary after the state Senate essentially fired his predecessor, Lynn Peterson, after her three years on the job.

WSDOT is facing criticism for long drive times, controversial new toll lanes on Interstate 405 and troubled mega projects like Seattle's tunnel.
