OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Washington State Patrol now says a possible abduction at a downtown Olympia park was a hoax.

The Patrol said in a Tweet Thursday that detectives were interviewing those involved and confirmed that the incident was fake. Those involved could face criminal charges.

Earlier Thursday authorities asked for information about a possible abduction late Wednesday night at a downtown park in Washington state's capital city.

Washington State Patrol said troopers were called to Heritage Park in Olympia after people reported seeing five to six males dressed in white, plastic hooded-jumpsuits grab three people and restrain them with zip ties.

The witnesses said the victims, which may have included a girl believed to be about 4 to 6 years old, cried for help.
