A suspect was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a Ferndale motel Tuesday morning.

At about 4 a.m., officers attempted to pull over a driver for an illegal left turn and after the driver failed to stop, he drove to the Haggen grocery store parking lot.

According to police, the driver opened the door, pointed a gun at officers and drove away.

Officers followed the man's car and found it abandoned near the Super 8 Motel on Main Street and Barrett Road.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Jacob Kennett said troopers and multiple agencies were at the motel.

Shortly after 10 a.m. the suspect was taken into custody.
