Teen Injured In Fall On Mount Si

NORTH BEND-- A young teen is in the hospital with serious injuries after falling 90 feet while hiking the Mt. Si trail Saturday morning.
Around 11 a.m. fire crews received a report that a 15-year-old boy had taken a serious fall. He was hiking the trail with his Kennedy Catholic High School cross-country team, officials said, as part of a yearly trip.
Rescue crews and a helicopter sent to the scene reached the injured student, who was found unconscious.
Another teen who became stuck while trying to help his friend was also rescued. He was uninjured.
The injured male was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious head injuries.
In a statement on their Facebook page, the school said the injured teen was doing well.
Mt. Si trail is a popular, steep hiking trail off Interstate 90. The trail gains 3,100 feet in a little under four miles, and is hiked by around 100,000 people a year, according to the Washington Trails Association.
