Pierce County deputies are investigating a mass-casualty incident near Roy where a large tree split and fell onto vendor booths at a family trick-or-treat party Saturday afternoon. A man in his 30s was killed, and a half-dozen other victims were temporarily trapped in the wreckage with injuries ranging from minor to serious.
