Americans in Mexico told to shelter in place as violence strands travelers
The U.S. Embassy in Mexico has issued an urgent shelter-in-place order for American citizens in several states as violent cartel retaliation paralyzes the region. Following a military operation that killed the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, "El Mencho," armed groups have set fire to vehicles and blocked roads leading to major airports in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara.
