In the first week of the Washington State Legislature's 2026 regular session , the granddaughter of an 80-year-old woman carjacked and murdered in Seattle is fighting back against a bill proposed by Senator Bob Hasegawa (D), Senator Claire Wilson (D) and Senator T'wina Nobles (D) to change Washington State's three-strikes law. If passed, critics say Senate Bill 5945 would put criminals' rights over victims' rights. Plus, another proposed bill would make it easier for the state to remove kids from homes of parents addicted to deadly drugs like Fentanyl.
