Bellevue considering paid street parking, survey ongoing
BELLEVUE, Wash. - The city of Bellevue is conducting a study on paid street parking in the city's densest neighborhoods, and is open for community feedback on the project.
What they're saying:
The study focuses on Bellevue's urban core, specifically in downtown, BelRed, Old Bellevue, Spring District and Wilburton neighborhoods. The city says recent data showed a very high demand for on-street parking spaces, with many blocks completely full.

Bellevue does not currently charge for on-street parking or curbside loading. The city looks to manage the high volume by charging for street parking, aiming to increase curb space access for customers and loading zones for businesses. The study points to increased congestion and emissions between 2022 and 2024, citing issues like commercial vehicles spilling into residential neighborhoods and delivery drivers double parking in travel lanes.
This Curb Pricing Study is part of the city's Curb Management Plan, previously adopted by the city council in July 2023. The study is a near-term priority for the management plan, which is expected to run throughout 2025.
The city's project team has worked with stakeholders and parking experts to develop best practice recommendations. Details on hardware equipment and payment applications will be explored during the study.
What you can do:
Members of the public are invited to attend a virtual open house, happening Monday, Feb. 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. It will be held via Microsoft Teams, and the community can register for the meeting or join online at 6 p.m. Monday.
There is also an online survey available to better understand the community's travel and parking experiences. You can read more about the Curb Pricing Study on the City of Bellevue's website.
