'Hawks fans loudest in the world

SEATTLE -- Seahawks fans roared in the Guinness Book of World Records not once, but twice during Sunday night's face-off with the San Francisco 49ers.

Just before the end of the first quarter the crowd hit 131.9 decibels, shattering the previous world record of 131.76 decibels set by fans at a 2011 soccer match in Turkey.

Then the crowd did it again, beating their own world record during the 4th quarter hitting 136.6 decibels!

"One of the reasons we're so passionate is because we're a close community," on Seahawks fan said.  "We're a community of fans that really believe in each other."

Free ear plugs were handed out to thousands of fans before the start of the game.

"Noise induced hearing loss is the number one cause of hearing loss that's above aging, as little as 100 db for 15 minutes or less can be damaging to our ears," said Dr. Misty Shores, a Seattle audiologist.

Just to put things into perspective a motorcycle is about 100 decibels.
