SEATTLE - Newly released dashcam and bodycam video shows a King County Sheriff’s deputy rescuing a burglary suspect from a burning car.
According to investigators, just before 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 27, a deputy was working patrol when he saw a car parked on the side of the road on SE High Point Way in Preston.
Investigators say the deputy recognized the man's Audi as one associated with several burglaries around Redmond and Sammamish.
In an attempt to stop the car, the driver took off speeding, ultimately leading to a pursuit.
The suspect wrecked the Audi on the side of I-90, causing it to roll over and catch fire.
Video shared with FOX 13 Seattle shows the deputy running toward the burning vehicle and dragging the suspect out and away from the car, saving his life in the process.
The King County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and later arrested on the recommended charges of attempting to elude a police vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Investigators learned the white Audi was reported stolen out of Renton.
As for the suspect, KCSO said he is a convicted felon for residential burglary. He also had a misdemeanor warrant for driving under the influence.
He is currently being held in the King County Jail on a $15,000 bail.
