Link Light Rail weekend disruptions from Westlake to SODO in Seattle
SEATTLE - Weekend commuters beware, there are disruptions coming to the 1 Line in Seattle for scheduled maintenance.
Link Shuttle buses will be replacing the 1 Line from Westlake to SODO from Friday January 10 at 10 p.m. through Sunday Jan. 12.
The rerouting will help Sound Transit continue preparing for the opening of the 2 Line across Lake Washington.
How the Link Shuttle will work during 1 Line construction
- This bus shuttle will operate between Westlake and SODO every 10-15 minutes, stopping at all intermediate stations.
- Passengers travelling southbound from Westlake will have to get off the train and take the shuttle, reconnecting at SODO, and passengers traveling north will take the shuttle in reverse.
- Link trains will be running every 15 minutes between SODO and Angle Lake and Lynnwood and Westlake.
"We appreciate your understanding as we move forward on building a bigger, better Link light rail system," a Sound Transit representative said in the video posted to Facebook explaining the incoming changes.
The mid-January dates were chosen to minimize impact since it is traditionally a low-ridership time period, according to Sound Transit.
"This disruption will be one of several in the coming weeks, as Sound Transit takes advantage of what is traditionally our lower ridership months to complete 2 Line tie in projects, make critical repairs, and continue work on key capital projects.
By the end of the construction period, riders should expect improved Link reliability, faster speeds through the University of Washington station, and advancements towards the completion of the 130th Street infill station."
