Missing man's car found in Skagit County, search continues for 79-year-old traveler

SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. -- Authorities in Skagit and Snohomish counties are looking for a 79-year-old traveler who might have early onset dementia and is hard of hearing.

Officials say George Todd is from Arizona but traveled to Washington to look for a friend he had not seen in some time.

Last Saturday (11/12), Todd was assisted in the Granite Falls area by law enforcement and taken to Marysville. A day later he was again contacted by law enforcement in the Everett area. At that time he told police that he planned to travel back to Arizona.

On Wednesday (11/16) hunters traveling along Cascade River Road, east of Marblemount in Skagit County discovered Todd's 2016 Chevrolet Cruze in a ditch. No one was around the vehicle.

Skagit County Search and Rescue assisted by Snohomish County Search and Rescue are working in the area of Found Lake Trailhead where the car was found.

It is believed that Todd might have early onset dementia and he is described as hard of hearing. He did have a suitcase with him during his travels, and that was located in the vehicle.

Todd has no outdoor experience.

His family told police Todd might try and travel to Washington County, Oregon or Pennsylvania.

Anyone with information regarding Todd and his travels is encouraged to contact the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office at 360-428-3211.
