An MMA fighter died after a competition at Cicero Stadium on Friday night.

What we know:

Isaac Johnson, 31, was slated to fight Corey Newell on Friday night in a heavyweight Thai boxing match called the Matador Fighter Challenge, according to a promotional page for the event posted online.

According to the promoter, Johnson collapsed near the end of the third and final round at the event held in Cicero Stadium.

Paramedics rushed Johnson to Loyola Hospital in Maywood, where he died a few hours later.

The promoter says Johnson passed the physical before the fight that is required by the state.

It was his first ever Thai boxing match, sources say.

He was married and had a young daughter.

Authorities did not give a cause of death.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations is investigating the incident.
